In 2017 the demand for vegan and vegetarian foods increased by 987% and veganism is expected to be the “biggest food shift of 2018”.

So what does a plant-based diet entail?

A plant-based diet is a lifestyle choice that promotes the consumption of plant-based foods including whole-grains, legumes, fruits, vegetables, nuts, and tubers; while eliminating animal based products such as meat, fish, eggs, and dairy. It is by far the healthiest diet and ultimately the one that is best suited for our anatomy. Animal-based foods increase levels of inflammation, toxicity, acidity, and cellular disease throughout the body, which over time promotes the onset of chronic diseases such as:

  • Diabetes
  • Obesity
  • Heart disease
  • Cancer
  • Autoimmune Diseases including: Rheumatoid Arthritis, Thyroid conditions, and hormone dysfunction
  • Neurological and Cognitive Impairments including: Multiple Sclerosis, Alzheimer’s/dementia, and Parkinson’s

There are only a handful of things we are truly capable of controlling in is this world and diet is by far one of the most important.
